Nolan was born in London, and then educated in Trinidad and Tobago, before moving to America to undergo his professional training at the Actors Studio, New York and with the Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey companies.
For the National Theatre, Oslo, his credits include: The Merry Widow, La Cage aux Folles, Anything Goes, Pal Joey, Hair, West Side Story and Jazz’ll Dazzle, a musical written for him, performed in Norway and Sweden.
In London, his West End credits include: Cats, Miss Saigon, Starlight Express, Rent, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (for the RSC), Kiss Me, Kate and The Lion King.
Recent credits include: The Wizard of Oz at the Festival Hall; Trevor Nunn’s production of Gone With the Wind at the New London Theatre; and La Cage aux Folles at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
Other credits include: My One and Only at the Chichester Festival Theatre; Five Guys Named Moe (tour); Robinson Crusoe at the Richmond Theatre and King’s Theatre, Edinburgh; Just One World at the Jeanetta Cochrane Theatre directed by Gillian Gregory; Puss in Boots at the Oxford Playhouse,which was followed by How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and The Government Inspector at the Chichester Festival Theatre; Show Boat at the Royal Albert Hall; and the workshop for Desperately Seeking Susan, set to the music of Blondie. Nolan appeared in Porgy and Bess at the Savoy Theatre directed by Trevor Nunn; The Mass Carribe in Greenwich; and King Cotton in Manchester and Liverpool. Nolan also participated in the gala concert tribute to Sir Cameron Mackintosh; Hey, Mr Producer! at the Lyceum Theatre; and Peter Pan at the Royal Festival Hall directed by Julia McKenzie.
